End of Year Assembly - St John Bosco House Triumphant

Friday, 18th July
On Friday, 18th July, the final day of the academic year, the entire school community gathered for the annual end-of-year liturgy and assembly. This event marked not only a time for reflection and celebration, but also the distribution of various awards, including the much-anticipated announcement of the Inter-House Trophy Competition winner.
For the past few years, Theresa House has dominated this competition, and all signs earlier in the year pointed to another likely victory for them. The Inter-House Trophy represents the culmination of a year’s worth of achievements in attendance, academic excellence, charitable efforts, and inter-house competitions, including the ever-popular Games Day. Points can also be lost due to poor behaviour, highlighting the importance of full participation and positive conduct throughout the year.
This theme of participation and teamwork featured prominently in the speeches made by the newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, who addressed the school for the first time in their new roles. Mr Shields reinforced the school’s core values, while also emphasising the importance of pride, community spirit, and collaboration. He illustrated these themes through the allegorical tale of “The Long Chopsticks,” cleverly acted out by the House Captains - to the great amusement and engagement of the audience.
To the great surprise and delight of many, St John Bosco House was announced as the winner of the Inter-House Trophy for this year! This unexpected triumph serves as a powerful reminder that every pupil’s contribution counts, and that success comes not only from winning competitions but also from consistent attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward learning and school life.
Inter-House Trophy Competition Results:

In addition to the announcement of the Inter-House Competition results, the assembly also provided the perfect occasion for the Headteacher to formally present Nana Yee and Kachi with their Head Girl and Head Boy blazers, officially marking the beginning of their terms in office. We wish them the very best as they take on the responsibility of leading the student leadership team in the year ahead.
Congratulations once again to St John Bosco House, and to all pupils and staff, for a successful and rewarding school year!
