St Mary's Catholic High School

Remembering the Fallen

Students during the two minutes silenceOn Thursday, 11th November, our school once again remembered those who died in the First and Second World Wars, and in conflicts since then.

As the end of break time coincided with the national 11.00am commemoration, students stood in silence for two minutes to reflect and pray silently in their respective playgrounds.

Shauna and Markuss, our senior students, took the opportunity to visit the Cross of Remembrance at St Mary's Catholic Church, which is dedicated to all those from our local parish '...who went from this place and died on the battlefield for their countrymen'

Recently, we posted on our school website the names, of those we know, of former St Mary's students who died in the First and Second World Wars. Poignantly, the records record two families who lost three brothers each in the First World War. To see the names of former St Mary's students who died, please CLICK HERE.
