St Mary's Catholic High School

St Mary’s students and staff donate over £1000 to charities at Easter

This Easter, St Mary’s donated over £1000 to five charities from money collected by students and staff this academic year. Despite the interruption caused by the national lockdowns, St Mary’s school community once again rose to the challenge of providing much needed support to these important local and national charities.

A magnificent £814.38 was raised by the school community for CAFOD. In assemblies and RE lessons, students focused on the work of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development’s work in supporting our poorest sisters and brothers around the world, in situations made worse by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, during the school’s Charity Week in October, students and staff from each of our four houses raised £52 for each of the following charities: Aid to the Church in Need, The Catholic Children’s Society, Barnardo’s  and Croydon Commitment. This was done through quizzes and fun activities organised in each year group.
